Launch Projects 2 & 3

Here is the second project we will be making at the launch tomorrow night

You can't really see this in the photo but the ornament is a 3D ornament.  I have stamped and punched the ornament 3 times, folded each in half and stuck them together to give a 3D effect.  Looks better in real life.  I haven't done it here but these ornaments would look fantastic using heat and stick powder and dazzling diamonds as well.  Must try that one too.  The other thing you could do with this card is to punch out the ornament in the base card, and have the 3D ornament on the inside of your card.  Now I'm going to try that too.

And the third project is this card

It is hard to see in the photo but the perfect plum is sprayed with the new smooch spritz and the tree is stamped using old olive ink refill and shimmer paint.  I love both effects, especially the ink and shimmer paint.  I can't help it, I love anything that glitters!!!!!  The white background also uses the new Big Shot lattice embossing folder, lovin that too!  I can see this being used for a lot of male cards in the future.

Not able to make the launch but would like to make the projects?  Let me know and I can send you out a kit to make the projects.  Cost is $17.00.

I'm also really excited to share with you the Stampin' Up! December Frenzy.  Some items listed are half price!  So check it out and give me a call to place your order. (Double click on the picture below to enlarge it).

Did you know that you can see the current Stampin' Up! promotions just by going to my website, just click on the link below.

This Saturday will be the last of my classes for the year.  We will be using the brayering technique and the Big Shot.  There are still some places left so please let me know asap if you would like to come along.  $15 for 6 cards and coordinating envelopes.

Launch Project Number 1

Take a look at one of the projects that we will be making at the upcoming 2010 Summer Mini Catalogue launch on Thursday 2 December 2010.  This project uses a cute little bag template (which I purchased from a very talented lady by the name of Becky Roberts, (http://www.beckyroberts.stampinup.net/), and the new Island Oasis Designer Series Paper from the Stampin' Up! Summer Mini Catalogue.  Cute huh?

I will also have some retired stamp sets at reduced prices for sale on the night as well as provide you with more details on the HUGE December Frenzy sale, which starts on 1 December 2010 (some items I might add are up to 50% off).  I will post more details about this later.

Remember, there are only a couple of days left on the ribbon promotion so if you are interested in any of the bundles available, please give me a call.

Big Shot Butterflies

It is so hard sometimes to come up with cards for workshops, I often think, will they like them, will they think they are good enough?  What colours will they find most appealing?  Do they have the "wow" factor.  I am so lucky to be connected to Stampin' Up! and have access to hundreds of other demonstrators that are all so talented and that inspire me all the time.  So here is a card that I CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) from a talented demonstrator (I should be putting their name here but now can't find where I got the idea from, sorry!!!!).

This card uses everything Stampin' Up! - Elegant Eggplant, Very Vanilla and Old Olive card stock, Old Olive Satin Ribbon, Modern Label Punch, Beautiful Wings Embosslitss Die, Elegant Eggplant and Old Olive either markers or stamp pad.

Cut out the top note on very vanilla and old olive.  Cut around the very vanilla top note at the perforations.  Using a sponge dauber, sponge around the edges of this top note in elegant eggplant.  Stamp your images from the Pocket Sillhoutes stamp set in whatever colour combination you choose, I have used old olive and elegant eggplant and to create both light and dark images, I haven't reinked the stamp in between stamping.

Mount your very vanilla top note onto the old olive top note.  Using your beautiful wings embosslits die, cut out the butterflies (this die both cuts and embosses the butterflies).  I have used elegant eggplant for mine but you could use old olive or both colours.  Place your butterflies onto the top note wherever you like.  Before sticking your top note onto the elegant eggplant card, place your old olive 5/8" satin ribbon along the bottom of the card, then stick your top note on.  Stamp out the "best wishes" from the Short & Sweet stamp set onto old olive card stock and punch out using your Modern Label Extra Large Punch.  Attach dimensionals to the label and place on card.

I have used both snail adhesive and sticky dots to attach the butterflies as I wanted to give a 3D effect to the bigger butterflies. Using the sticky dots on these allows you to raise the wings to give that effect.

Hope you like it.

Lisa

Delightful Dasher

I have recently bought this stamp because I have seen so many nice cards made with it.  Here is one of the cards that we made at a Workshop today.  We used Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White Card Stock, we also used some of the Stampin' Up! Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper.  We used the Spritzer and our Choc Chip marker for spritzing on the large piece of white and used our Chocolate Chip and Bravo Burgundy markers for Dasher.  Add some Real Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and one of the new Clear Brads.  I struggled for ages for the right card for this workshop and I was really pleased with the end result.  Lucky for me, so was everyone at the Workshop!

Christmas Gift Cards

Well I just don't understand where all the time goes.  It doesn't seem like 2 weeks since I posted on this blog but there you go, it has been.  We are certainly getting towards the busy time of the year, with Christmas Decorations in the shops, plans being made for holidays over the Chrissy period, and, not to mention, all that shopping!!!!

Do you know what you would like for Christmas?  Something from the new mini catalogue that is available from 1 December 2010??  Or maybe something from the existing catalogue??  Did you know that I have Gift Certificates available? So if your loved one is finding it difficult to think of something to buy, why not make it easy for them (and great for you) and suggest a gift voucher for your favourite Stampin' Up! Products?

To go with my presents that I have managed to buy to date, I thought I would share some cute little gift tags.  Not much to them really, a little Designer Series Paper, stamp here, ribbon there and you have some really simple, quick gift tags and the good thing is you can make them as big or as little as you like (I have cut my A4 sheet in 4 but you could reduce that size again and get 8.  I think they are much nicer than the bought ones.  Only problem is, the kids will know that "Santa" didn't make them????
Here they are.  I hope you like them.

I will be at the Kincumber Uniting Church Craft Fair/Boot Sale this Saturday (6th November).  Why not come along and say hello.  I will be there with my fellow friend & demonstrator Nerida.  You will also be able to make a card like this as well as enter in the draw for the lucky door prize and we will be doing demonstrations as well.

A reminder too for my next Christmas Stamp-a-Stack, which is being held on Saturday 13 November at 10.00.  $15 for 6 Cards and envelopes.  Please let me know asap if you would like to attend.

Just loving Concord Crush

I am just loving the new In Colour, Concord Crush, teamed with Wild Wasabi.  Take a look at one of the cards that will be made at either of my Christmas Stamp-a-Stacks.  I really love it.  Thank you to my dear friend Melissa for the inspiration!!

The other thing on this card that I am really, really liking is the Shimmer Paints, which is what the Season's Greetings is stamped in.  Pity the photo doesn't really do it justice.

Boot Camp Tasks

I have been involved in a boot camp with other Stampin' Up! Demonstrators.  This week one of our tasks were to make some cards just for the fun of it and send to three of our friends.  Here is two of the three cards.

This card uses the Stampin' Up! In Colour, Concord Crush, Watercolour Paper and Basic Grey Card Stock.  Stamp the image in Black Stazon (I used Stampin' Up! "The Nicest Things" Clear Mount Stamp Set), onto watercolour paper and then watercolour.  Cut your basic grey and watercolour paper, I have allowed about 0.5cm around the side and top and bottom.  Using your Eyelet Board punch, punch the bottom of the basic grey c/stock and watercolour paper then mount.  The sentiment is also from the Nicest Things set, stamped in Concord Crush, adhere to card and apply some of the new Concord Crush 1/2" Stitched Poly Ribbon (tied a knot).

This cards uses Concord Crush as a base card stock colour, with Wild Wasabi mount (9.5cm x 13cm).  A further piece of Concord Crush (10.5cm x 5cm) and Wild Wasabi (9.5cm x 4.5cm).  Once piece of Whisper White (13cm x 6.5cm).  Use your jumbo Friendly Words wheel and Basic Black stamp pad on the Whisper White C/Stock and place over the top of your other card stock so that your white strip is on top.  Using the Two Step Extra Large Bird Punch, punch out two birds on Concord Crush C/Stock.  Using a sponge dauber, apply a bit of concord crush stamp pad ink to the edges of the bird and apply to your card, along with some Basic Pearls for eyes.  Once again, a strip of Concord Crush 1/2" Stitched Poly Ribbon tied a knot.

I hope my friends like them!!!

The other thing I made was a couple of cards and a note holder, which we also did at my last workshop.  I gave these to my husband's boss, for absolutely no reason at all.

Hope you like them.  Feel free to leave any comments.

Elegant Eggplant Bird

Why is it that photos never do your cards justice?  This is much nicer in real life.

I was looking around for something nice, using a different technique to do at a workshop tomorrow night.  This is probably the hardest thing that I find being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and that is what to do at workshops and classes.  I think I actually set the bar too high for myself.  Anyway, I like people to really like the cards they are making and I hope that they enjoy making them.

To make this card you will need:-

Stampin' Up! Basic Black Card Stock
Stampin' Up! Elegant Eggplant Card Stock
Stampin' Up! Whisper White Card Stock
Stampin' Up! Scallop Trim Border Punch
Stampin' Up! Two-Step Bird Extra Large Punch
Stampin' Up! Basic Black Stampin' Pad
Stampin' Up! Concord Crush Stampin' Pad
Stampin' Up! Friendly Words Jumbo Wheel
Stampin' Up! Elegant Eggplant Grosgrain Ribbon
Stampin' Up! Snail Adhesive
Stampin' Up! Daubers
Stampin' Up! Jewels - Basic Pearls

Cut your Basic Black Card Stock (C/S) to A5 size, score and fold in half.
Using your Stampin' Up! Scallop Trim Border, punch right along the edge on the right hand side.
Cut a piece of Elegant Eggplant C/S to 13cm x 4.5cm and another to 6.5cm x 5cm
Cut a piece of Whisper White C/S to 12.5cm x 4cm and another to 6.cm x 4.5cm
Ink up your Stampin' Up! Jumbo Wheel using Basic Black Stampin' Pad and roll over your Whisper White pieces using the Friendly Words Wheel.
Once dry, mount these Whisper White pieces onto your Elegant Eggplant pieces.
Tie some Elegant Eggplant vertically along the 13cm x 4.5cm piece.   Apply with double sided tape or Snail Adhesive.
Layer your 6.5cm x 5cm rolled piece partly over the other and apply with Snail Adhesive.
Punch out the Extra Large Bird Punch using Elegant Eggplant C/S.
Using a dauber, sponge the underbelly, wing and back of the bird in Concord Crush, this will give the bird a little definition.
Using Snail Adhesive, apply the branch then bird to the smaller mounted piece.
Apply a small basic pearl jewel as the bird's eye.

I hope you like it and enjoy making it.  Please feel free to leave me a comment or email me if you have any questions.

2010-2011 Catalogue Launch

Well last night saw the 2010-2011 Catalogue Launch for myself and 6 other demonstrators (sorry if i have forgotten anyone).  I think I can say that there was a lot of fun to be had by all.  There were some fantastic projects for everyone to make and in usual Stampin' Up! Demonstrator style, all so very different.

Here's a peek at what was laid on the table for the night.

And here are the projects we made on the night!

Want to know how we made them?  Give me a call to arrange your workshop and earn yourself some free stamp sets and products.

New Catalogue Is Now Available

The new catalogue is now available and there are some really awesome new things in there.  Antique Brads (gotta love anything antique), punches all now available in the new style (easier to store), new colours, a range of in colors that will be available for the next two years.  A new in color is to be introduced each year and all will remain for two years so we will all have plenty of time to play with them.  New color packs to allow an easy transition to the new colors.  There are some really elegant new stamp sets, and of course the faithful wood stamps or for those that prefer, some stamp sets now come in clear mounts (personally, I am loving these, although still struggle to get things straight).  There are some really nice hostess sets, some really popular stamp sets have returned and coming up to Christmas, there are some beautiful baubles and gift tag ideas.

Here is a card I made using an idea from the 2010-2011 catalogue.

And another that we recently made at a workshop.

I could go on forever with all the really cool stuff in the catalogue but you would be best to get a copy for yourself.  If you would like a copy, please email me, lisabowcock@bigpond.com for your copy $12.95 plus postage).  The catalogue provides you with 160 odd pages of ideas, colour combinations and cool techniques - now tell me any craft magazine that you can get all of that in.

The other fantastic news is that Stampin' Up! have reduced the cost of the Demonstrator Starter Kit, which is now only $289.  The starter kit is valued at $415 and provides you with all the supplies you will need to become a hobby demonstrator or for those wishing to pursue, a fantastic business opportunity.  From now until 15 October, new Demonstrators will also receive a complete set of In Colors, which includes Stampin' Pads, Stampin' Write Markers and card stock.  With all of this, now is a great time to become a Stampin' Up Demonstrator.

On another note, the Australian Springtime Flora Festival begins on Thursday 9 September and goes through until Sunday 12 September.  We will again be holding a stall there so why not come along and see the latest in Stampin' Up! including make and takes and demonstrations.  We will also have some retired stamps for sale, at a reduce cost.

Hope to see you all there.

Lisa

Monday 16 August 2010

I have enrolled in a Boot Camp with fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrators. What is it? Well, I'm not too sure myself but I do know that it is a huge challenge where we all need to do 6 Workshops in 6 weeks. Considering I have done about 3 in 18 months, this will be a big challenge, but what do I have to lose? Absolutely nothing! What do I have to gain? I have the opportunity to share creativity and excitement about the latest Stampin' Up Products, which will be coming on 1 September 2010.

Why are we doing this? Well, for one, it is to raise money for a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator who has a daughter with Cerebral Palsy and so all Demonstrators joining the Boot Camp are required to make a donation to assist with the purchase of a Chair for "Lara". This chair will make a great deal of difference to this little girl, as it will enable her to do some things that we take for granted - Lara would be able to moved around with the family and will be able to sit at the dinner table to eat with her family. Such a small thing that I am sure would mean everything to Lara.

So I challenge you all to pick up the phone and ring me now to arrange your Workshop.  And the best bit? You, as the hostess, can earn some fabulous free stamp sets and earn dollars to spend on your choice of fantastic Stampin' Up! products, which of course, will all be from the 2010-2011 catalogue.  With a team training day this weekend, I am sure I will be learning some great techniques that of course, I'm willing to share with you!

My 2010-2011 Catalogue Launch is happening on 15 September at 7.30 at the Narara Valley Baptist Church.  You will make 2 projects on the night, receive a great prize, chat with other like minded crafters and Stampin' Up! Demonstrators and receive a new catalogue, all for $20.  Email me now to reserve your place as numbers are limited!  lisabowcock@bigpond.com

And just as a final note, here is a couple of my latest cards -Basic Black, Real Red and Whisper White - makes a stunning card doesn't it?

Baby Announcement/Thank You

My great friend, Nic, recently had a little baby girl.  She wanted me to make her some baby shower thank you cards but now that the little wonder has arrived, we need to do thank you/announcement cards.  An easel card looks difficult but is relatively easy.  Once you work out how to tape the card together, it all just falls into place.

Here it is.  Hope you like it.

Feel free to email me if you would like the instructions on how to make an easel card.

Last Chance

Hundreds of stamp sets are going for good and some with up to 50% off.  Now is your last chance to order some products that we will never see again.  Check out my Stampin' Up Website for further details, under promotions - here is the link  http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/lisabowcock/promotions, click on the Last Chance List.

From now until the end of this month, I am offering free postage on orders of $50 or more.

It has been some time since I have updated this blog, sorry, I seem to never get around to doing so many things.  I have been trying to master the art of Watercolouring.  Here is my man's card using this technique - I still have my "L" plates on here I think!!

I have also been very busy doing a friend's guest book for her wedding, which has consumed a lot of time.  The biggest reward, she loved it, and added bonus, everyone else, including her reception venue, loved it.  Gives me confidence in what I love to do!

Other exciting news is that I have seen a sneak peek of the new catalogue, due out next month.  It has some fantastic new products, I am really excited about some of them.  Why not be one of the first to see the new catalogue, call me to arrange your workshop or class.  By the way, I am more than happy to do a class rather than a workshop at your home with your friends.  I am also planning to have a class at my home sooner rather than later so I will post the date as soon as I know (in the process of painting too, which has taken over priorities a bit).

Ever thought about becoming a Demonstrator??  This is a very exciting time with new products and loads of excitement from papercrafters everywhere.  Why not talk to me about joining a fabulous, talented group of people with the same passion as you?  It could be the start of something wonderful!

And just for my final note, I have created a challenge this month for SU Demonstrators, that I will now pass onto you.  Create a male card (not a child) in a technique you have never done before, don't like doing or would like to master.  Send me your pics and I will upload them onto the blog!

July Special

It has been a while i know... I just don't know where the time goes.  I have so many things that I need to do with my time but it never seems to get done.  I have been busy making a wedding guest book, which has taken a huge chunk out of my spare time but have finished and from all reports, everyone loved the book (most importantly the bride)

Anyway, the Stampin' Up! special for this month is up to 20% of selected two step stampin' sets.  The Two-Step Stampin' Sets are designed to allow you to take your creativity to the next level.  A Stamp-a-ma-jig is a must for complete accuracy for these sets and both are so easy to use.  Give me a call if you would like a free demonstration!!!

This fabulous offer is available on some soon to be retired stamp sets :-

On another note, my email address is changing shortly to lisabowcock@bigpond.com  I am currently in te process of changing over and will only have the old email address for another couple of days.  So please replace this email in your address book now.

On another note, we have just started some renovations at home so my planned classes have been a little delayed.

Remember too that there are a number of retiring colours that will only be available until the end of this current catalogue.  Don't delay if you want to order a favourite colours as some stock is already running out!

Brayered Birds

I have gone mad on Brayering of late and I came across a beautiful card made by another Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.  Here is my take on it, which, surprisingly, has turned out quite similar.

To make this card you will need Glossy Whisper White card stock, which I cut to approx 10cm x 15cm.  I then brayered along the bottom in basic black (rolled brayer a bit before hand so I didn't get too much black), brayered in Whisper White above the black (again rolled off a bit before applying), brayered in River Rock, More Mustard and Pumpkin Pie.  Applied a little of River Rock (retired but will be back in new Idea Book & Catalogue) over everything to blend a little.

Stamped Upsy Daisy in basic black along the bottom.  Ran the whole gloss card stock (after drying) through the Big Shot using the Top Note Die, punched out two birds using the Extra Large Two Step Bird Punch in basic black card stock and mounted using dimensionals.  Mounted the top note onto Barely Banana, mounted onto Pumpkin Pie onto Basic Black cardstock.

I really, really like it.

Brayering is an art in itself and takes a little time to get the knack.  If you would like to learn this technique, email me today for a spot in one of my upcoming classes.

Here is another card that I made today, quite simple.  I started with Melon Mambo cardstock cut to 21cm x 18cm, cut some Cottage Garden Designer Series Paper 21cm x 8cm, Whisper Whtie Cardstock, 21cm x approx 4.5cm.  Stamped Flight of the Butterfly butterflies in Chocolate Chip, Pixie Pink, Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry onto Whisper White, stamped smaller butterflies (from same stamp set) ono Whisper White and cut them out.  Added Chocolate Chip Ribbon to the top of the Whisper White Card Stock, folded butterflies in half and flattened out again, just to give that 3D look and stuck on with Sticky Dots in the centre.

Hope you like it!!

Update for June

Scallop Circle Punch
Did you know you can use your scallop circle punch to create beautiful 3D Flowers?  The card below (why is it that photos do not do your cards justice?), uses 6 scallop circle punches.  Just punch onto any of your favourite Stampin' Up! Designer Series Papers, scrunch them up like you are throwing them into the bin, place one inside the other and play with until it resembles the type of flower you want.  I added whisper white strip, onto DSP, onto Rose Red card stock, punched out a sentiment onto white, added a scallop oval behind.

I've also had a lot of fun with brayering.  While I am still trying to master the technique (and once again, camera does nothing for it), here is a little bit of what you can do with a brayer.

I have really loved creating men's cards with the brayer and basic scenery like the above.  I have used soft sky (retired) and River Rock (coming back) with the brayer, stamped the image with chocolate chip, mounted on whisper white, baja breeze and kiwi kiss.  Nice blend of colours I think.

Now I must apologise for not blogging for a while.  I have had an extremely slow computer and sometimes, it was just too frustrating to sit there and do anything.  Combine that with having three little ones and I just couldn't bring myself to do it!!  So now, I have a new computer (woohoo), which I must say is soooo much faster than my old one (not sure why I waited so long) but anyway, I am enjoying my new found speed!!!

Deals of the Week

For the month of June 2010, Stampin' Up! will be announcing a "Deal of the Week". For this week, up until 8 June, 4 fantastic punches are reduced to $20.12 (normally $30.95) Bargain! The punches are Scallop Oval, Scallop Square, Boho Blossoms or Trio Flower Punch. This deal is only valid until TUESDAY 8, so give me a call if you want to place an order.

Looking for a way to fund your craft?
You can now become a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for only $259 (normally $324 and valued at over $560.  This is a great time to join the Stampin' Up! family.  We have quarterly team meetings, access to hundreds of local demonstrator blogs and team forums, all providing great inspiration and support to all demonstrators.  It really is great to be able to be creative with like minded people as well as share your inspiration.  If this sounds appealing to you, why not give me a call to discuss the great benefits of becoming a Demonstrator.

Colour Renovation
There has been so many rumours around a colour renovation, which has been confirmed.  We farewell some really great colours but in return, we get some old favourites back (like River Rock, used in the brayered card above).  Now is the time to get in and order your Stampin' Pads and/or refills as Stampin' Up! will now only be able to provide these colours while stocks last.  So give me a call if you want to place an order to ensure that you get your favourites in before they all go!!

I have also joing the Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Website.  Although this is a tad empty at the moment from my classes perspective, any news regarding Stampin' Up! is available at http://lisabowcock.stampinup.net/
Why not check it out.

If you would like to attend classes, please email me or ring me and let me know what days/times suits you so that I can try to coordinate for you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

The photos of the main cards in the gift box are included in the slide show at the top of this blog. Below is my favourite of them all!  Hope you like them.  I am pretty impressed with myself!

Feel free to leave me comments at any time if you have any queries or would just like to have your say.

Shopping Tote

My wonderful friend, Cheryl, sent me this shopping tote template and it sat and sat, just waiting for me to use it.  I am planning for a 16yo Birthday party, for the girls to make a bag, card and maybe a bookmark, all for their mum's for Mother's Day.  So I started to play.  You can make this shopping tote from an A4 piece of card stock or use designer series paper.  There is a little DSP left which I have used to make a matching card.  There is enough left from a sheet of 12 x 12 to make a few matching cards actually.  Think I will be using this for some Christmas gifts.

A nice Mother's Day Gift

I will now try to coordinate the bags and the Vintage Vogue stamp set to see what I can create.

Vintage Vogue

I have been having a play with the Vintage Vogue Stamp Set.  My initial feeling about this stamp set was not an everlasting "got to have it" kind of thing (not like anything Rich Razzleberry coloured, which is obviously a must have).  However, seeing what other people have done and what I have done with it today, I am quite liking it.  It gives your card an "olden days" type of look to it and I must say, the large flowers and the detail on the petals really is quite stunning.

Anyway, here is what I made today.

Hope you like them.

My next challenge to myself - to use this set in making a bag for mother's day.

Autumn/Winter Catalogue

The long awaited Autumn/Winter Catalogue is here and it is fabulous.  I was involved in a launch for the new catalogue last Monday night and there was a lot of fun and some fantastic products were made on the night.

So far, I have had the opportunity to play with the new style of punch, the beautiful new colours (Rich Razzleberry is my favourite, although I am now quite partial to both Melon Mambo and Soft Suede).

Here are some of the beautiful cards we made

This card uses rich razzleberry card stock as the base and melon mambo, a square of the new Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the bird is cut out using the bird punch with a bit of rich razzleberry ribbon - all from the new catalogue.  Too easy!

This card uses craft card stock background stamp, in rich razzleberry with a whisper white and melon mambo mount (melon mambo also stamped in RR with a background stamp, the flower is the pushed out petals from a love note card, mounted on rich razzleberry, some bling in the middle of the flower, some rich razzleberry ribbon and, of course, a sentiment punched using the curly label punch.

And now for a card using the Big Shot.
The Big Shot can cut, emboss as well as cut & emboss, like your cuttlebug (if you have one).  This beautiful black manhattan flower was embossed using the Big Shot, cut out and mounted onto rich razzleberry card stock, with a bit of RR ribbon to finish it off.  Sentiment is stamped in RR, punched using the oval and scalloped ovals.

Hope you like them!  I must say that I am enjoying myself, playing with these wonderful new products.
